67BRAdvertised Position Title Hardware Electrical EngineerDivision Information SystemsWork Location VA, FredericksburgJob Description Perform in-depth RF system and electrical engineering. Perform analysis, requirements and design development and provide technical guidance and engineering evaluation for one or more integrated projects. Provide RF system level and electrical engineering expertise to support sustainment and integration efforts associated with Air Force Space Surveillance System (AFS) VHF Fence projects. Accomplish complete range of engineering and data analysis activities by applying seasoned analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.. Conduct engineering analyses, perform trade studies, quantify implementation costs, and recommend preferred solutions to mitigate or eliminate sustainment risks and reduce AFS cost of ownership. Proposed solutions will depend on the nature of the problem and may involve: (a) hardware modifications or equipment upgrades; (b) overhaul of subassemblies or subsystems; (c) software/firmware changes; (d) vanishing vendor-related product modifications; (e) analysis, research and design of suitable substitutes for obsolete and vanishing vendor components; and (f) maintenance procedures or interval changes.. Organize and execute the highly complex technical activities associated with the development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects. Use research, lab investigations, modeling prototyping and field testing to accomplish quality results.. Serve as Technical Lead for specific projects associated with the sustainment and modernization of the AFS radar system which may include multiple engineers working on a project team.. Document technical aspects of work in the form of requirements and design documentation, Technical Reports, Milestone presentations and Trip Reports for both management review and final delivery to customer.. Work within a process oriented environment that follows IE based SENSOR product lifecycle path.. Provide engineering support to logistics department to anticipate and identify: (a) obsolete components; (b) maintenance drivers and deficiencies; (c) high-failure rate components; and (d) components experiencing adverse age or usage-induced failures.. Review maintenance procedures, evaluate preventative maintenance schedules, and recommend updates. Develop, validate and support verification of any approved Air Force Technical Order (TO) changes.. Participate in review, development and implementation of the depot maintenance plan for the AFS system to ensure the system is in good repair, is operating within TO specifications, and is optimized for full operational potential.. Periodic travel to AFS VHF Fence transmitter and receiver sites is required in performance of duties.. Other duties as assignedMaterial & equipment used:Operates personal computer and utilizes software programs, spreadsheets and databases, fax machine, and other general office equipment.Work environment:Work is generally conducted in an office or lab environment. Some field site engineering is also required.Physical activities:Work may require lifting up to 50 lbs; standing, walking; prolonged sitting. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in certain situations. Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. Task specific work environment training will be provided as required.Required Experience: BSEE plus 5 yrs relevant experience or MSEE plus 3 years relevant experience.RF engineering experience. Professional experience with radio frequency system design and/or troubleshooting is required. Professional experience working with the set-up, configuration, and use of test equipment is highly desireable. Experience with Object Oriented Programming is desireable. Experience working with both Windows and Linux platforms..
